Pirelli's F1 research doesn't stop. After the simulator tests, the third F4 test session of 5 took place on the Montmelò circuit last 1 and 2012 September. Brazilian driver Lucas di Grassi was driving the R30 Renault, the Pirelli test car.
The tires tested in Barcelona arrived on the track at the culmination of a complex design, development and selection process. The safety and performance of each new tire specification are, in fact, previously verified with indoor tests (in the Research and Development laboratories in Milan) on machines that reproduce all the conditions of use. Only the tires that meet all the selection criteria are then taken to the track and evaluated by Pirelli test drivers.
