Vettel: “We also went well with the Softs”

Sebastian Vettel finished fourth in FP2 in Canada but the world champion was satisfied with the behavior of his Red Bull.

“We used the supersoft tires this morning, with the thought that it would rain this afternoon and in the end it didn't rain”, explained the German, who followed a strategy similar to that of Schumacher. “You never know in advance what will happen with the rain, I think we had a good day, we got decent laps and also with the different approach in the afternoon in terms of tyres, I think we can be happy. Let's see what we can do tomorrow. It's a big track, there are a lot of stops and starts, braking, chicanes and quick changes of direction but it's fun: it's part of this track, there are bumps, so it's rough and wild, that's the beauty of it".

Vettel was however pardoned by the FIA stewards following a near collision with Bruno Senna during the first session. Senna in the Williams was approaching the final chicane when the Brazilian was pushed to the outside by Vettel who passed him on the inside cutting the curbs. The maneuver appeared incorrect and both drivers explained their versions to the stewards. In the end the German received a reprimand, unlike what Pastor Maldonado suffered in Monaco, who suffered a ten-place grid penalty after similarly obstructing Sergio Perez in FP3.
