Vettel: “Passing Alonso was too risky”

Sebastian Vettel said he was satisfied with his second place at the Singapore F1 Grand Prix. Passing Fernando Alonso's Ferrari today was too risky.

“I tried to get him to make mistakes, but he didn't make any,” declared the Red Bull driver. “It's difficult to overtake here and it would have been too risky. We collected good points. The most important thing is that the car is competitive throughout the weekend. Something was missing yesterday and probably something was missing today too. The drivers' championship is completely open,” added Vettel.

“I made a good start. We have been criticized incorrectly in the past, and it was good to arrive here on a street circuit, set the car up well and get a good start."

According to Vettel, Alonso's two consecutive victories demonstrate that the championship is open: “All five drivers leading the championship have a very good chance,” he said. “Things can change quickly, look at Fernando. People thought he was a goner and instead he is back in the running. If you win one or two races you're back in the running, so the most important thing is consistency. We have to give our all by racing with our heads down" concluded Vettel.
