Vettel: “I'm not thinking about the title yet, it's a long season”

Sebastian Vettel he insists he is not yet thinking about the world championship, despite his huge lead over his rivals after the Valencia Grand Prix. The reigning world champion won the sixth race out of the eight contested, extending his lead Mark Webber e Jenson Button by as many as 77 points.

With this gap, Vettel would still lead the championship even if he doesn't score points in the next three races.

However, the Red Bull driver stated that it is important to stay focused on each race to achieve the best results and reiterated that he is not yet thinking about the world championship.

“I don't look at the gap, it's a long season” said the German. “We certainly had a phenomenal start to the season. Let's continue like this, we must consider every single race as it comes. Obviously, we don't have to win by taking too many risks, but the goal is always to win races."

“It's wonderful to be able to get the most out of it. If we are lucky enough to win, we must take it. If there is a day where we are not competitive enough, and we are good for third place, we have to finish third and not seventh."

“At the moment we are enjoying the moment. It's incredible how much the team has improved and gained in the last two or three years. Every single area has become very professional. We have to continue like this and stay hungry for victories and improve time after time."

The youngster also denied that winning in Valencia was easy.

“Maybe from the outside it's like this. I don't know what happened during the Grand Prix. From my point of view it seemed like a challenging race. I like it when it's you and your car lap after lap. I felt the pressure from Fernando and Mark in their pit stops, they were pushing hard."

“For some reason, I like this track and it's easy, great. The team did a phenomenal job. Even though we arrived here with our doubts, we managed to put everything together. It was a mistake-free weekend and I'm very happy with the result."
