Vettel is not worried about starting the new season with the 2007 car

Sebastian Vettel is convinced that starting next season with the 2007 car is an advantage rather than a handicap for Scuderia Toro Rosso. The Faenza team will begin the racing year with a development version of the STR2 and has planned to introduce the new chassis late in the season.

Although this situation could be perceived as a handicap, Vettel believes that his car will be more ready to face races when the championship starts in Australia on March 16: “We will have our new car after three or four races and so we will start the season with a development of the 2007 car, the STR2B,” – said Vettel a formula1.com – “I see the fact of starting the season with a car that I know well as a benefit and also its reliability has improved a lot in the last quarter of the last championship. We will then know if our material will allow us to do better than many others who will field their new machines, who will find themselves having to overcome youth problems. Nothing has been established yet regarding the debut of our STR3. At the moment, we have other worries than thinking about the launch of the new car. We need to make the STR2B ready and verify that the development of the STR3 is going in the right direction, to have an immediately competitive single-seater, as by then all the other teams will have solved many of their 'teething' problems."

Also interviewed about the degree of similarity of his next car with the Red Bull RB4, Vettel was rather laconic: "It will be similar, but that's all I can say."
