Vettel: “The mistake during the pit stop is something that can happen”

The Austrian Grand Prix has ended, a difficult race for Scuderia Ferrari. Kimi Raikkonen was involved in a bad accident with Fernando Alonso on the first lap, fortunately without consequences for both. Fate did not spare either Sebastian Vettel who, due to a problem with the right rear tire nut, saw his race made more complicated by a forced longer stop. Finishing fourth, the German ran the rest of the race always attacking Felipe Massa. Despite the progressive approach Sebastian was unable to conquer the lowest step of the podium and finished the race in fourth position.

Sebastian Vettel: “The mistake during the pit stop is something that can happen. There was a problem but it doesn't concern the guys, who are usually the fastest in the pit lane: there is no one to blame. We are a team and when you push for the limit these things can happen. Of course I would have preferred to take home the third place trophy, but we'll try again next year. The car was going well and we had good pace, I think another step forward has been made. Here the lap is short and you can't invent much, but in the next races there are faster corners and we will be able to better show that we are closer, even if today's result doesn't demonstrate it so well. In the last part of the race I tried to stay close to Felipe, but he was very fast on the straight. There's a bit of disappointment because we missed out on the podium, but I'm sure it will be better next time. Now we'll try to focus on the next race: everyone in Maranello is working with their heads down."
