Vettel on track at the weekend in Miami for the Race of Champions: “It's always nice to take part in this competition”
In 2016 the German triumphed in the individual section
While waiting to drive the new Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel will be busy this weekend in the Race of Champions which will take place in the American afternoon (this evening the individual races will start at 21pm, tomorrow the challenge between nations will start at 18pm) in Marlins Park, the Miami baseball stadium transformed into a circuit for the occasion.
Last year's edition was triumphant for the German from Cavallino who for the first time managed to establish himself as first overall, after the victories (six consecutive, obtained between 2007 and 2012) of teams conquered with his compatriot and idol Michael Schumacher .
"After chasing it for a long time, last year in London I managed to win the individual title – explained Vettel speaking of the event – SI am happy to participate in these races again together with other drivers, where the right competitive environment can be felt. The racing format is fun but not easy, also because driving different cars requires rapid adaptation of the vehicle. It is not easy to make the right decision in that short period of time".
The four-time world champion closed his speech with a joke: “This leads us riders to find the right excuse to justify ourselves: last year it was cold, but this year if the races didn't go well we could say it was too hot".
Vettel will not be the only driver to represent the world of Formula One. In fact, in addition to the German, there will also be his compatriot Pascal Wehrlein and Felipe Massa, who has just returned to Williams. There is also space for former pilots of the top-class such as Jenson Button (who retired at the end of last season and is now a McLaren ambassador), Juan Pablo Montoya, David Coulthard and Alexander Rossi.
