Vettel: “Impressed by McLaren's pace”

The German sees the English team as the main threat to victory

Vettel: “Impressed by McLaren's pace”

Sebastian Vettel believes McLaren could be the surprise at the German GP and sees the English car as the main contender for victory.

“They looked very competitive this morning, there's no doubt about it,” said Vettel regarding McLaren's performance. “We couldn't have that same pace, we weren't entirely happy with the balance this morning. After all, it's a Friday, and it's difficult to draw conclusions. McLaren also looked competitive at Silverstone on Friday, but wasn't as competitive the rest of the weekend. We have to wait and see tomorrow.".

Vettel was penalized by the rain and beyond his third place in FP2, he would have hoped for a little more dry weather. “We couldn't learn too much today, so we simply have to get used to the conditions, as there could be rain tomorrow and Sunday too. The forecasts are not great. It would have been nice to have had some dry track, especially this afternoon, to test a couple of things and see how the car goes with the new features, it's difficult to get an adequate evaluation when the conditions are constantly changing. We therefore have to work as hard as we can tomorrow, so we have obviously tried to limit the wear on these tyres.", concluded the world champion.
