Vettel: “I had everything under control at the end”

Sebastian Vettel declared that he always had the finale of the Singapore Grand Prix under control, when Jenson Button he was closing the gap on the Red Bull driver.

The world champion dominated the race from start to finish, with Button just one second and seven tenths behind him at the end of the race.

Vettel won for the ninth time this season and said:

“First of all, I am very happy with the result. The car was fantastic the whole time and when we could push, we pulled away very easily."

“Towards the end I was facing five cars with other groups of cars in front, it wasn't a huge margin, but it was all under control. A fantastic result. I like the track, the challenge and it's the longest race."

“The car was fantastic. It went very well from an engine point of view, we were in a good position most of the time, which was comfortable."

“For the championship it looks like we will have another chance in the next race.”

In the next race Vettel needs just one more point to officially win his second world title. Button is the only driver with a chance to still compete for the title, but Vettel is not expected to score points in the next races and the Englishman is expected to win all the next races.

“It shouldn't be a problem to get that point. But it's over when it's over and we have to finish this world championship first."

“The team is doing a great job and I feel good with the team, with the car and we are in our best condition.”

“There are no secrets, but when everyone places trust in the other we go in the same direction, in a single direction. Most of the time I have nice Sunday afternoons and nice evenings.”
