The German's superstitious ritual continues

Vettel called his Red Bull RB8 “Abbey”.

Sebastian Vettel has named his Red Bull RB8 for the 2012 Formula 1 world championship “Abbey”. With the car designed by Adrian Newey, the 24-year-old German will try to obtain his third consecutive title, something only Juan Manuel Fangio and Michael Schumacher.

It is now tradition for Vettel to give feminine names to his cars: the 2010 champion was called “Luscious Liz” while last year's RB7, which dominated the world championship, was called “Kinky Kylie”.

The German newspaper Bild had linked the name "Abbey" to the Beatles for the famous album "Abbey Road" or to the Silverstone curve: "None of this, it's just a cool name!" Vettel said.
