Vettel: “It's easy to be an expert with hindsight, I will always defend my team”

Victory missed in Canada for Sebastian Vettel but the German defended Ferrari with all his might, despite the strategic error that relegated him to second place.

“We chose the two-stop strategy because at the time we thought it would be faster,” commented Vettel. “With hindsight it's easy to be an expert. But I will always defend my team, I know that we have the best strategists available and it is not fair to criticize them. Sometimes we talk about details but in the end they make big differences but we have to be positive, the good news is that the car worked well, we had a normal Saturday and today we had fun" added Vettel.

“The Ferraris were doing very well and that's what we should draw as a conclusion, without getting nervous about strategic issues. Even a child could say now that those who made one stop did better than those who made two but in hindsight it's too easy. We have always been optimistic about this car, we know that it is a step forward compared to last year and that it still has great potential that we have not been able to express. We put a lot of pressure on ourselves because we want to win, here it's really fantastic to keep pushing on every lap, trying to overtake with the crowd cheering and this as a driver is fantastic. Throughout the race I tried, perhaps even going a little beyond the limit, I grazed the wall a couple of times and that's why the race was so enjoyable. Lewis was fast, we were a little faster but not fast enough. It was a really good race but it's a shame about the trophy, it could have been a little bigger” concluded Vettel.
