Vettel 9th in FP2 of the Monaco GP: "I'm not worried about Saturday"
The German finished 1 seconds behind leader Ricciardo
Ferrari takes a step back in FP2 of the Monaco Grand Prix. Sebastian Vettel, 3rd in this morning's free practice, did not go higher than ninth in the afternoon. The German had a heavy gap to Daniel Ricciardo: the gap between the four-time world champion and the number 1 Red Bull was 6 seconds.
A subdued performance, also thanks to an SF16-H that appeared very nervous among the streets of the Principality, peppered with a few too many errors, such as those at the Mirabeau - where the German damaged the rear wing - and at the exit of the Santa Devota.
"We tried something in the afternoon and it didn't go as well as we expected. I couldn't find the rhythm – Vettel told Sky Sports – , I didn't do good laps with the ultrasofts and from this point of view it wasn't a positive day. A little messed up, having damaged the rear wing. Luckily we fixed it and I was able to continue shooting: it wasn't a clean day."
In a chassis circuit like the Monegasque one, the Red Bull "threat" looms (Ricciardo 1st, Verstappen 4th), but Vettel prefers to look at his own home ground: "In the end I don't care about the color of those in front, we will try to overtake them. If they are in front, we will look at them and try to overtake them. Our place is not at the bottom of the top ten. We are faster and I'm not worried about Saturday".
