Verstappen, internet generation: “For overtaking I train with video games”

It's a fact. When Toro Rosso made official the hiring of Max Verstappen, a 17-year-old with little but successful experience in single-seaters, there were many doubts about this boy's maturity. Practically in mid-September the Circus is preparing to experience its last part of the season and doubts about the Dutchman's abilities have arisen completely dissipated. Precisely on the occasion of the last Italian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen confessed that for overtaking he trains with simulation video games.

The son of art, after having surpassed Felipe Nasr with consummate mastery in Belgium and Monza, he couldn't do anything other than accept praise for his ability to explore the limits and take risks every time there is the slightest possibility of recovering a position: “In video games you have to understand if you have space to be able to overcome your opponent. Even in those situations it happens that sometimes it ends up out, and you know that It can not be done. I think this helps me – commented the 17 year old from Toro Rosso – I did it for both Spa and Monza and I think things went more than well. I did the overtaking I did at Nasr, exactly equal, in the video game”.

If the young Max does not hide the fact that he uses video games to help himself in the race, on the contrary, Lewis Hamilton prefers not to use online platforms to prepare for work on the track: "I like the spontaneity of overtaking, see what will happen when I'm on the track – commented the Mercedes driver – You never know what will happen on each lap. I don't like to plan things or prepare knowing that in that corner I will only have one place to overtake. I like not to know what am I going to do. I think it's much more fun that way rather than waiting to do it at a specific moment."
