After many rumors, confirmation has finally arrived: Nico Hulkenberg will be a Renault driver starting next season. The French team has made it known that it is a multi-year contract: specifically, well-informed rumors say that the German has signed a two-year contract with an option for a further season.

Nico leaves Force India after three years together in which he was very close to winning his first career podium: for him Renault's represents the great opportunity to land in an official house, after having been on the verge of joining renowned teams several times.

In 2013 and last season, in fact, Hulkenberg had been very close to joining Ferrari, replacing Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen respectively: on both occasions, however, the German was forced to fall back on other choices, in this case Force India.

Hulkenberg enthusiastically welcomed this opportunity: “I am very happy to join Renault in 2017. The Renault has always been a strong team in the world of motorsport and this brings back so many incredible memories: in his time at Renault, Michael Schumacher not only helped make Germany a passionate Formula 1 nation, but also made my passion for racing great. As a member of the Renault family, I want to develop the car to write new stories."
