F1 | Official: Antonio Giovinazzi will race with Sauber in 2019

Now it's official. Antonio Giovinazzi will drive for Alfa Romeo Sauber starting next season, joining Kimi Raikkonen. 2019 will therefore be the Italian driver's first full season in Formula 1, fulfilling the dream for which he worked hard in the minor series.

The agreement had been in the air for some time, although after Raikkonen's arrival there had been some doubts regarding the possibility that Marcus Ericsson could keep his seat for 2019, forcing Giovinazzi to remain on the bench for another season. Rumors were then denied with the confirmation of the Italian as an official Sauber driver, finally earning the much desired chance to demonstrate his worth. Antonio will be able to continue his work in a team that he now knows well, with which he made his debut at the beginning of 2017, replacing the injured Pascal Wehrlein. At the moment Giovinazzi is also a reserve and development driver for the Swiss team, so he will find himself in an environment with which he has already become familiar and which will be able to help him in his growth process.

After seven years, therefore, Italy returns to Formula 1 also with a driver from the Bel Paese
