Sold out for the grand finale in Abu Dhabi

The finale of the F1 world championship is sold out on Sunday in Abu Dhabi, as announced by the organizers of Yas Marina.

Richard Cregan, Abu Dhabi's chief executive of management, reveals that the circuit's capacity on race day is around 50.000.

We remind you that the event was also sold out in the inaugural race a year ago.

“We are very proud to organize this race, also because we will see who the new 2010 world champion will be” said Cregan.

Just a day after seeing Brazil's checkered flag 12.000km away, the F1 cars and their equipment arrived at the spectacular Abu Dhabi circuit on Tuesday.

Incredibly, despite the desert nature of the place and the low annual precipitation rate, a lot of rain fell last Tuesday.

And according to some forecasts, further bursts of rain are expected during the grand prix weekend.

McLaren's Martin Whitmarsh told Auto Motor und Sport that this weekend will see an unprecedented four-way battle for the drivers' title.

In recent years, title battles have often been marred by disputes between out-of-competition teams, political battles with the FIA, and various scandals.

“It's a liberation” admitted the Briton.

Four drivers from three different teams have a chance to win the title, and this has never happened before. It will be an epic battle to say the least,” added Whitmarsh.
