Trulli is not a fan of Formula 1 races at sunset
Jarno Trulli made it clear on Wednesday that he is not a big fan of moving the "sunset races" in Formula 1.
This weekend's races in Australia, and again in Malaysia in just a week's time, will be held significantly later than usual for the benefit of European television audiences, but not late enough to require expensive spotlights. Qualifying and the race are scheduled for 17pm local time, which means the sun will be low in the sky at the end of the session.
"I'm not convinced about this," the Italian from Toyota told the Australian newspaper The Age.
"I've never run in the late afternoon before. I don't know what the light will be like. In Singapore it was completely dark, with the lights. Here it will be even different. I actually prefer the hours of sunlight," he said. added Trulli.
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa also referred to the opening race schedule of the 2009 championship this week.
"The first race is always a bit like a leap in the dark, but I can't wait. Since the race starts at 17pm let's hope it doesn't end in the dark too!" joked the Brazilian.
Giancarlo Fisichella, of Force India, says: "It might be a bit dark at the end of the race, but I don't think this changes much for the drivers"
