Three teams from the middle of the field are fighting for sixth place in the constructors' championship

Sixth place in the constructors' championship is not an attractive battle in F1, but for three midfield teams in 2011 it is a fight for a $9 million prize.

With five races to go the Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari, Mercedes and Renault teams have secured the top five places in the constructors' championship.

Behind them, teams from Force India, Sauber and Toro Rosso are within 20 points and the prize for finishing sixth is just under ten million dollars, according to Auto Motor und Sport.

Sauber appears to be pushing for further updates to the 2012 car, updates which will debut at Suzuka.

“We will do everything we can to get sixth place,” he declared Peter sauber.

Toro Rosso is also at work, with new crash tests to debut a new nose as soon as possible.

“We have taken a step forward, we can try to attack Sauber and finish ahead of them” declared Jaime Alguersuari.
