Indian team penalized for "unsafe release"

Three places penalty for Nico Hulkenberg in the Chinese Grand Prix

The tightening error caused by the Force India technicians during this morning's qualifying will cost Nico Hulkenberg a three-place penalty on the starting grid of the Chinese Grand Prix, the third round of the 2016 Formula One world championship. As expected, in fact, the stewards led by Charlie Whiting judged the Indian team's macroscopic error to be highly risky for the stewards and the other drivers present on the track, therefore penalizing the German for "unsafe release".

Hulkenberg will therefore start from thirteenth place given that despite the problem, which arrived in the final minutes of Q2, he managed to gain access to Q3 and therefore qualify in tenth position. Felipe Massa, Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button move up one position.
