Toro Rosso: a difficult day of free practice for Sainz and Verstappen in Montreal

Carlos Sainz: “It was a difficult day for us. This morning in FP1 we had some electronic problems, so we were slow and I didn't complete the laps we wanted. It's a bit annoying, because it's very important for us to get the highest mileage possible here because this is a completely new track for me. In FP2 we had no problems, but it was a bit of a rush session because we were expecting rain. I felt the car was improving lap after lap, but just when we managed to reach a decent level the rain came. The lack of runs means it wasn't an ideal first day for a rookie especially on a difficult track like this, but hopefully we can use tomorrow's FP3 to better prepare for qualifying. ”

Max Verstappen
“It was a difficult day for us today. FP1 wasn't too bad and I think it was a good result to finish in tenth position. Between sessions we made some changes to the car for FP2 this afternoon, but they didn't really work. So we have some work to do tonight, but at least we know which direction to go. It will be a difficult weekend, but I am ready for the challenge. ”
