Toro Rosso, Tost: “We're still hoping for fifth place in the standings”
According to the team principal, Toro Rosso can still undermine Force India and Williams
Calculations in hand, it seems a little complicated that Toro Rosso can climb positions in the world championship standings and put pressure on the brilliant Force India at this stage of the championship. Indeed, the Faenza team will probably have to watch their backs from McLaren and Haas.
Yet Franz Tost, the team principal of the smallest of the cans, does not want to set limits and admits that the team still hopes for a fifth place finish in the Constructors' standings.
“Having a one-year-old engine we will suffer at Spa and Monza, some races will be difficult - explained Tost, who then relaunched - But on other tracks we expect to be competitive, we are confident for Singapore, Malaysia, Japan and Abu Dhabi. I still believe that we have some chance of finishing fifth in the standings because the riders, the team, all of us are doing a good job and the potential is very high. We just need a good result to unlock us. We risk losing ground on the engine front, but we will bring some interesting things to compete with our direct rivals again."
