Toro Rosso: Aerodynamic tests in Friday's free practice in Spain

The Faenza team continued with the development started at Mugello

The comments of the two Toro Rosso drivers after Friday's free practice on the Barcelona circuit for the Spanish Grand Prix.

Jean-Eric Vergne – 16: “This morning we continued with an aerodynamic evaluation that we had started at the Mugello tests. In the afternoon, we mainly worked on the race and I feel we found some good solutions. Now, we need to start thinking about qualifying and how to improve the balance of the car, but so far it doesn't look too bad. I have tried both types of tires and as expected the option brings a big advantage in terms of lap time on fuel and the Prime has a longer life, but all the same it will be interesting to see what the best strategy will be tires for Sunday. The new parts? It's hard to say what improvement they brought, the other teams also developed their cars.”

Daniel Ricciardo – 17: “We tried a few different downforce settings in the morning and weren't too convinced by our pace. So we decided to make some changes to the car for the afternoon session. They gave me a better feel of the car, but we still need to work hard on the set-up to try and find something more if we want to be in contention for Q3 on Saturday. I have some ideas of what we want to do and the engineers, who are probably a little smarter than me, have definitely had some ideas.”
