Toro Rosso denies contact with Ralf Schumacher

Franz Tost has had his say and denied that Toro Rosso has offered Ralf Schumacher a contract for 2010.

This week the German returned to the spotlight after declaring that he had been courted by an F1 team to compete in the next world championship.

The driver, now in action in the DTM, said he rejected the proposal, but then added that he would have accepted a more substantial offer with his eyes closed and from these comments the bond with Toro Rosso was born.

Franz Tost, current head of the Faenza team, worked with Ralf Schumacher in F1 on two occasions: when the driver made his debut in the category with Jordan in 1997, and then followed him during his time with Williams-BMW.

The German press reports that Ralf is also a friend of Dieter Mateschitz, owner of Toro Rosso.

But on Wednesday Tost denied any form of contact with the driver and told Auto Motor und Sport: “I don't know anything about this. This isn't true, period. As far as I know, the rumors don't make any sense."

However Eddie Jordan, the former owner of Jordan and Ralf Schumacher's first employer in F1, is still a great admirer of the XNUMX-year-old.

“I would sign with Ralf immediately,” he said. “He has always been underestimated in F1.”
