Toro Rosso, Key: “We still have developments to make”

Over the years that of Toro Rosso it has become an increasingly concrete and competitive project, especially since it arrived in the Italian team James key, one of the most highly rated engineers in the paddock.

This season the car designed by the Faenza team has proven to be very competitive since the first race, allowing the two drivers to easily enter the points zone: the main handicap, however, is having a 2015 Ferrari Power Unit, which in recent races has caused him to lose performance compared to his opponents. Despite the great chassis and aerodynamic qualities of the STR11, having a drive unit from last year implies have no updates, seeing its gap from the other teams constantly increase: Toro Rosso, in fact, is the only team to have a 2015 engine.

The team, despite this handicap, continues to bring many aerodynamic innovations to be able to close the gap accumulated by the opponents in the last races: "We knew that in Hockenheim there were a couple of elements that would not have worked as well as for the other teams, as on the long straight, which It's something that depends on power. The others who have a 2016 Power Unit have done quite well in the last few races and this was evident in Germany, on a circuit like Hockenheim. We have brought some aerodynamic updates that seem to work. We hope to be able to do more in the next races. We learned a lot about the important updates over the weekend, and they seemed to fulfill their purpose. ” said James Key referring to the lack of power in his car, hoping to be able to improve.

“Before the break we will get together and draw up a plan on how to tackle the second part of the season. We still have some updates to bring. We have to address the problems we had in Hockenheim and we must do a better job of compensating for some of our car's weaknesses”the Toro Rosso coach then concluded, predicting further developments for the next races.
