Toro Rosso: Jean-Eric Vergne also on track at Yeongam

Today in Yeongam, the third Toro Rosso driver also took to the track, Jean-Eric Vergne, taking part in the first free practice session of the Korean Grand Prix.

Jaime Alguersuari, 6th: “I only raced in the afternoon, but the result was positive in my opinion. The track was never completely dry and every time we tried to race on slicks it didn't work and we learned more or less how long the track takes to dry. In the wet I ran very well, the car can also go even better. You can feel the potential and I was impressed by our pace on the intermediates. It's always difficult to know the truth about what others are doing, because you don't know for example their fuel load. Apparently, there is a chance of rain tomorrow, and if that were the case, I would have a positive feeling about the situation.”

Sebastien Buemi, 9th: “It was a good day and the car proved reliable, even if, due to the conditions, we didn't do much lapping in the morning. I had good feelings about the car in the wet. It takes a long time for the track to dry and this is important data if we still have rain for the weekend. If we did something wrong, it will be useful lessons for the car tomorrow. We understood when to change from extreme wet to intermediate and vice versa and also when to change to slicks. We have a clear picture of the situation. We have no technical problems, we should be able to make progress."

Jean-Eric Vergne
: “This morning I tried this car for the first time. The last time I tested a Toro Rosso was last year in Abu Dhabi. I admit I wasn't very happy this morning when I saw the rain. I found these tests very difficult due to the weather conditions, although I am happy with what I did, I didn't have any accidents and I also had fun. It's difficult to judge how well I did, also because it wasn't possible to do more runs this morning. I don't even compare my performance with that of other drivers. Today I just thought about gaining more experience and knowing how the team operates. I'm happy with this opportunity they gave me, even though I didn't do many laps; but now I'm prepared to get back in the car in Abu Dhabi."
