Toro Rosso in good form also in Sepang

Toro Rosso also in good condition in Sepang for the Malaysian Grand Prix. At the end of free practice, Daniel Ricciardo was in fifth position while his teammate Vergne was eighth.

Daniel Ricciardo – 5: “I've driven here before in Formula BMW, but when you switch to a Formula 1 car, the sensations are completely different. But all the same, it helps to have some experience of the circuit. The simulator work was probably more helpful for me. The track is very technical and I think we made a good step forward this afternoon, compared to the morning which was quite difficult. Much of our work today is centered on adapting the car to the very different track characteristics here compared to Melbourne and the biggest difference, of course, is the temperature. The tires have to work harder in these conditions and therefore obtaining the balance of the car is really fundamental."

Jean-Eric Vergne – 8: “Since last year, I've learned a lot about this track on the simulator, but they don't have the heating on full blast in Milton Keynes! Overall, I think today went well for us, I did a long run this afternoon, my pace was good and Daniel's lap time shows that we have a good car. I feel pretty confident and happy with how things are going. Obviously, I'm experiencing the heat and humidity for the first time, but I expect to settle in more and more, so I have no worries about the race from a physical point of view."
