Toro Rosso: da Costa close to starting job for 2014

Antonio Felix da Costa will soon be announced as Daniel Ricciardo's successor at Toro Rosso. The Brazilian press is convinced of this. All that is missing is the official announcement of the Portuguese's hiring, who suffered a decline in performance at the beginning of the season but won in France and Hungary in Formula Renault 3.5.

“Today was an important day for me,” the 22-year-old told O Estado de S.Paulo. “I received a message from Franz Tost who congratulated me on the result,” revealed Da Costa.

The final decision, however, will probably rest with Red Bull's Helmut Marko.

“I think Dr Marko will be very happy to see me in F1,” said da Costa. “But the contract signed last year states that he can place me wherever he wants. I like Marko a lot, he is a tough man, but he is spontaneous”.

Da Costa will return to Milton Keynes to ride the Red Bull simulator ahead of the Korean GP.
