Toro Rosso, Carlos Sainz: “There is no need for any clarification with Max Verstappen”

Sainz nips in the bud any speculation about possible friction with Verstappen after Australia

Toro Rosso, Carlos Sainz: “There is no need for any clarification with Max Verstappen”

Carlos Sainz, ninth under the checkered flag of the Australian GP and protagonist of a tough internal duel with teammate Max Verstappen, preferred to nip any controversy in the bud in Toro Rosso.

Verstappen repeatedly asked for direction via radio and at a certain point the team itself ordered the Spaniard to improve his pace or give way to Max. Sainz for his part responded in spades, defending his position with gritted teeth against attacks, even impetuous, of the teammate.

Sainz, however, believes that he and Verstappen are mature enough to know how to manage their rivalry and be able to collaborate together without any problem:

“We all know I didn't do anything wrong, giving team orders wasn't the right thing to do Sainz explained. Max and I were involved in a duel, we were both fighting for position, and it's all very clear. There is no problem between me and Verstappen and there was no need for any clarification. I believe that the two of us are among the riders who collaborate the most as team mates, then in the race it is normal for there to be challenges and certain strong emotions, but we are mature enough to know how to manage the situation."

Relaxing words from Carlos who, of the two, seems to be the one with the calmest and coldest approach to the derby. While Max - who doesn't hide the fact that he feels faster - suffers quite a bit if he finishes behind. The one between the Toro Rosso drivers, however, will be a long and very interesting challenge.
