Toro Rosso: Alguersuari admits that Buemi's seat is in doubt for the future

Jaime Alguersuari has always supported his Toro Rosso teammate, but admits that Buemi's seat for the 2011 season could be in serious doubt.

The Australian Daniel Ricciardo is the leading element of the team of young promising Red Bulls, and has amazed the Formula 1 environment thanks to the times shown driving the world champion RB6 during the recent tests held in Abu Dhabi.

At the same time, Toro Rosso team boss Franz Tost – while praising the young Spaniard Alguersuari – admits that Swiss driver Buemi has also fought hard this year.

Alguersuari was asked if he thinks Ricciardo could replace Buemi as his 2011 Toro Rosso teammate. “I don't know what will happen,” Algersuari told the newspaper Dario AS on the occasion of an event to show the Red Bull prototype intended for the Gran Turismo 5 video game. He then added: “What I can say is that if my teammate ( Buemi) had also driven a Red Bull, he would have done better than Ricciardo. Without any doubt.."

Tost confirmed his words of praise for Algersauri, for the excellent work and growth demonstrated this year, effectively guaranteeing that his place in the team for 2011 is secure. In fact, the Spanish newspaper Il Mundo Deportivo reported his words: “This year Jaime has learned to drive and set up the car better, and to indicate the path of development to make it grow. I can't wait to start next season, when we will have a much more mature driver who is constantly improving."

Alguersuari replied: “I'm very proud of what he said, because I think I've improved this year, and I intend to continue like this.”
