Timo Glock waiting to join Toyota with permission from BMW
Only one bureaucratic formality would be missing for Timo Glock's move to Toyota. The Cologne team has in fact filed a contract signed with the GP2 champion with the Contract Recognition Board (CRB) but the body would have informed BMW Sauber due to an option previously signed by Glock with the Hinwil team for the role of test drivers.
The boss of BMW Motorsport, Mario Theissen, has already confirmed Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica as official drivers and communicated months ago to Glock the possibility of freeing himself from his contract to possibly race as a starter for another team. According to the Bild-Zeitung newspaper, the German's compensation at Toyota would amount to 7 million dollars, approximately 10 times the salary received at BMW.
"Timo has a contract," Theissen clarified however. "We have been informed by the CRB of a contractual conflict. We will await their decision."
"In Timo's interest, we hope for a reasonable solution in the shortest time possible" added the driver's manager, Hans-Bernd Kamps.
