Mugello test: in the first session of Day-2 Grosjean dominates, Massa 3rd

The sunny weather favored the teams' tests on the Tuscan track

The Frenchman from Lotus precedes the Australian from Red Bull by four tenths and then the Brazilian from Ferrari, author of 54 laps

After yesterday's torrential rain, good weather welcomed the eleven F1 teams on the second day of testing at Mugello. After the morning session, the Frenchman from Lotus, Romain Grosjean, is in the lead.

The driver from the Enstone team lapped the Tuscan track for 47 laps with a best time of 1'21”603, around eight tenths less than Fernando Alonso's time yesterday. The sunny weather favored the performance, achieved around mid-morning: behind Grosjean, but with Medium tyres, came Mark Webber with the Red Bull, who took exactly four tenths and preceded the Ferrari of Felipe Massa, two tenths behind and a half from the rival of the Austrian team and six and a half tenths from the top. Massa started lapping quite late, around 11am, but demonstrated a good pace. Both Webber and Massa clocked up 54 laps.

Behind the Ferrari driver we find the Frenchman from Toro Rosso Jean-Eric Vergne and the Japanese from Sauber Kamui Kobayashi: the time for them is almost identical, with only two thousandths of a second dividing them, while one second from this couple we find Michael Schumacher: if the German he wasn't able to lap yesterday, today he clocked up 74 laps in the morning alone, during which Mercedes worked a lot without looking for significant times. Closing the time table are Charles Pic with the Marussia, Vitaly Petrov with the Caterham, Gary Paffett, McLaren's test driver with the English car (only 38 laps for him) and finally Bruno Senna with the Williams. Finally, no laps for Force India, with Paul Di Resta stuck in the pits all morning. The session will continue in the afternoon and conclude at 18pm.
