F1 Test | Renault, Ocon: “It's great to be back driving an F1 car”

After a year away from the tracks, Esteban Ocon has returned to driving a Formula 1 car as an official driver. The young Frenchman, in fact, was the first to drive the new Renault RS20 on the Barcelona circuit, where winter tests are taking place starting today.

The new French single-seater was revealed to the public only today, after only small details of the car were offered at the launch event of the season. The 2020 car presents numerous differences compared to those of last year, especially at the front, where the nose and front wing have been modified following a style more similar to that of the Mercedes.

It was a positive day for the French team, despite the time lost between the morning and afternoon sessions due to delays in replacing the seat for the driver change. Nonetheless, Esteban Ocon is satisfied: “It's great to be back driving a Formula 1 car. When I left the garage I was smiling, as it had been a while since I had a car of my own. It's really cool to think about the thousands of hours that went into creating this car and then seeing it hit the track. In terms of programmes, the start has been positive and we have a good base to work from. We know we have to continue working this week and make improvements for the first race. We have to be precise in our work and make everything count,” the French driver said in interviews.
