F1 Barcelona test: Rosberg protagonist of the first day
Ericsson's Sauber came second ahead of Marciello's Ferrari
After setting the best time in the morning, Nico Rosberg he finished in the lead with a time of 1:24.374 on the first morning of testing at Circuit de Catalunya.
Behind the German of Silver Arrows we find the Sauber of Ericsson, with the Swede jumping behind Nico in the afternoon after having fitted the soft tyre, in turn ahead of the Ferrari of Raffaele marciello, third at 24 thousandths.
Mercedes focused a lot on tires and long runs today, finishing as leader also in terms of laps, with 146 laps completed.
First busy day for McLaren, which brought many aerodynamic and mechanical updates to the track for the tests, as well as having undertaken to best configure the electronic management of the power unit Honda.
Testing will resume on Wednesday morning at 09.00.
News – The first day of in-season testing in Barcelona began with Nico Rosberg's best time, 1:24.374, achieved on the soft tyre. The German from Mercedes preceded Raffaele Marciello's Ferrari by 2s2 - on harder rubber - which in turn left Maldonado's Lotus behind.
The other drivers involved on the track were Kvyat, Massa, Maldonado and Ericsson among the starters, and Oliver Turvey on McLaren, Pierre Gasly with Toro Rosso and Nick Yelloly for Force India, replacing pascal wehrlein, in bed with fever.
Ferrari, Red Bull, Mercedes and Toro Rosso are the teams selected by Pirelli to carry out tire tests.
La Mercedes focused a lot on the tires, while the Ferrari, in the updated version, also performed various tests on the power unit mappings.
In the morning the Red Bull of Kvyat remained in the pits for a long time, with the Russian completing only 20 laps.
After the first 4 hours of testing Rosberg he led the group ahead of Marciello, Maldonado, Kvyat, Gasly, Ericsson, Yelloly, Turvey and Massa.
At 14.00 pm the traffic light is green again to set off again. The first hour of the afternoon has also been archived, the ranking is updated with Sponge which rises to fifth place, behind Rosberg, Marciello, Maldonado and Kvyat, and ahead of Gasly, Ericsson, Yelloly and Turvey.
After an hour and thirty minutes the Sauber of Ericsson – with a time of 1:26.624 – he moved into second position on the soft tyre, while Rosberg crosses the 100 lap mark.
In the meantime, the Red Bull di Kvyat she caught up with her colleagues, exceeding 50 rounds.
At the end of the final hour, the ranking always shows Rosberg leader ahead of Ericsson, Marciello, Kvyat, Maldonado, Yelloly, Gasly, Massa and Turvey. In this order the drivers concluded the first day of testing at Montmelo.
