F1 Barcelona Test 3, Day 1: Button leads the morning standings

Jenson Button took home the first morning of testing at Montmelò with the supersoft compound and the best time of 1:23.753. Second place for Vettel's Ferrari, with the soft compound ten thousandths of a second behind McLaren, and third place for Nico Rosberg's Mercedes. Williams, Red Bull, Manor, Renault, Haas, Toro Rosso and Force India complete the ranking. The most present on the track was Nico Rosberg with 54 laps.
In general the teams worked a lot on the aerodynamics and the flying lap, with the Williams being the most photographed car thanks to its front and rear solutions for next season. After the usual lunch break the teams will return to the track again at 14.00 pm.

News – F1 restarts in Barcelona under a pale sun and with a sky full of clouds, with 10 teams, only Sauber absent, engaged in the first day of 2016 seasonal testing.
Rosberg, Vettel, Button, Ricciardo, Wehrlein and Grosjean are the starting drivers in action, alongside young talents Lynn, Celis, Ocon and Gasly, behind the wheel for Williams, Force India, Renault and Toro Rosso respectively.
The first installation laps see the single-seaters on the track with raked wings while for Mercedes and Ferrari the monkey seat has disappeared. Williams immediately fitted a rear wing with a view to 2017.
After the first thirty minutes the first times also arrive, with Wehrlein's Manor lapping in 1:29.454 while Rosberg is behind in 1:29.686. Nico lowers the reference time to 1:25.821, when the Haas is still missing, stopped in the pits. Ocon places Renault in second place, with a time of 1:28.014. At the end of the first hour Wehrlein dropped to 1:28.182 while Alex Lynn's Williams was fourth in 1:42.332. Meanwhile Grosjean also joined the group.

Jenson Button takes the lead in 1:25.113 and shortly afterwards comes the response from Rosberg, who takes back the lead in 1:25.099. At the end of the second hour the British driver from McLaren returned to the lead in 1:24.249, followed by Vettel, Rosberg, Ocon, Lynn, Gasly, Wehrlein, Celis and Grosjean. Only Ricciardo's Red Bull stopped in the pits after just 10 laps.
Wehrlein rose to fifth place in 1:26.653 while with the supersoft Button compound he dropped to 1:23.753 and remained in the lead. Back on track with the yellow compound, Vettel drops to 1:24.687 and Lynn takes the fourth fastest time in 1:26.358.

With just under an hour left before the lunch break, Button leads the standings ahead of Vettel, who dropped to 1:23.763, and Rosberg, third with 1:25.099. The leader in terms of laps is Ocon's Renault with 47 laps.
The latest improvement is for Grosjean's Haas, which drops to 1:26.669 but remains in eighth position ahead of Gasly and Celis.
The checkered flag calls the drivers back to the pits for the lunch break. Button finished in the lead with the supersoft compound and a best time of 1:23.753.
