Bahrain Test 2019: Russell on Mercedes finishes ahead of everyone

The last day of testing on the Bahrain circuit has just ended. The fastest of all was George Russell with 1.29.029. The Mercedes reserve driver precedes: Perez, Vettel, Sainz, Kvyat, Schumacher, Stroll, Albon, Ticktum and Grosjean.

Many junior drivers took to the track today, so there were no significant changes in the standings. Good performance for Mick Schumacher who took to the track today with Alfa Romeo, lapping with the same times recorded yesterday with Ferrari.

News of the day – At 8:00 the green lights come on, the sky is clear with mild temperatures: 24° in the air and 27° on the asphalt. The first driver to record a time is Carlos Sainz with 1.32.778. Sebastian Vettel will then follow him with 1.30.984. Mick Schumacher, with Alfa Romeo, records a 1.35.115. The only relevant times will be those of Sebastian Vettel with 1.29.319 and Lance Stroll who places his Racing Point in second position with 1.30.049.

After the break, we return to the track with some changes: Alonso replaces Sainz, Perez takes the place of Stroll and Grosjean at the wheel of Haas. Mick Schumacher improves, moving to sixth position with 1.13.113. Many teams prefer to focus on long runs and race simulations, so no significant times will be seen until Schumi Jr climbs to third and Sergio Perez takes the lead with 1.29.095. Toro Rosso also improved with Daniil Kvyat in 1.29.911.

We see some action in the final minutes, Grosjean rises to tenth with 1.30.903, while Russell rises to sixth position with 1.29.998. Alonso is eleventh with 1.31.006.

The Mercedes reserve driver then moved to fifth position, while Sainz rose to third with 1.29.795.

The Englishman made a late splash and put himself ahead of everyone with a 1:29.029 (his qualifying lap with Williams was 2,7 seconds slower).
