Abu Dhabi Young F1 Drivers Test: Magnussen in front

Best time for Kevin Magnussen (McLaren) on the first day of testing for young F1 drivers in Abu Dhabi. The Dane lapped in 1.42.651 in the morning, ahead of Antonio Felix da Costa's Red Bull by 66 thousandths.

The duo finished more than 7 tenths ahead of the rest of the field, led by Gary Paffett, the McLaren test driver who replaced Magnussen in the afternoon.

Robin Frijns, this year's Formula Renault 3.5 champion, finished fourth fastest for Sauber. Nicolas Prost with Lotus is fifth ahead of Luiz Razia (Tor Rosso) and Giedo van der Garde (Caterham).

Razia caused the only red flag of the afternoon with 10 minutes to go, although he was able to return the car to the pits.

Magnussen will return to action with McLaren on Thursday afternoon, while da Costa will ride for one more day before handing over the RB8 to Frijns.

Esteban Gutierrez will drive Sauber on the second and third days.
