Test in Jerez, third day: Alguersuari at the top

Jamie Alguersuari achieved the best time on the third day of testing in Jerez, affected by rain. The 19-year-old lapped in 1.19.919 with Toro Rosso while the other teams, once the conditions worsened, chose to end the tests early. Pedro de la Rosa set the second fastest time for Sauber after causing a red flag when he stopped on the track as a precaution.

Adrian Sutil is back at the wheel of Force India after the Silverstone shakedown. The German completed 48 laps focusing on short runs and systems control. The team lost half the afternoon due to an electrical problem.

Felipe Massa with the Ferrari F10 set a time two tenths slower than that set by Alonso on Thursday. The Brazilian had only a short time in the dry to find his performance but completed a total of 72 laps with several stints in the afternoon and said he was satisfied with the car.

Vettel completed 59 laps in the new Red Bull RB6, finishing fifth fastest. Problems for Rubens Barrichello who, with Williams, caused a red flag in the morning for an off-track exit. The Brazilian did not suffer any major damage to his car and completed 120 laps.

Lewis Hamilton instead finished ninth after running with a large amount of fuel.
