Sky is trying: it wants to buy a significant share of Formula 1

Not just American multimillionaires and Arab Emirates: they could be involved in the purchase of Formula 1 even televisions. The British chain Sky is reportedly studying how to purchase an important portion of the Formula 1 rights. According to the Sunday Times, thanks to an investment of 9.000.000 €, the satellite broadcaster would be ready to get its hands on the premier class of Motorsport once the CVC has definitively decided to sell its shares.

According to initial rumors, the acquisition would be supported by Qatar Sports Investments, which already owns the Paris Saint Germain football club and from Stephen Ross, American multibillionaire and owner of the Miami Dolphins, one of the most prestigious teams in the National Football League. Precisely in this regard, Sky would already have initiated contacts with CVC to become one of the great masters of Formula 1 together with the Liberty Global company, managed by the American multimillionaire John Malone.

Recent rumors have also included the Canadian fashion magnate among the potential buyers of Formula 1. Lawrence stroll, owner of Tommy Hilfiger who, on several occasions, has already been close to acquiring a Formula 1 team. But according to the British newspaper, the real purpose of Sky's interference in the acquisition of the premier class of Motorsport is motivated commercial: the satellite broadcaster, by buying Formula 1, could ensure its television chains have exclusive broadcasting of Formula 1 preventing streaming trough Internet.
