Sir Stirling Moss, motorsport mourns the passing of the British legend
The Briton passed away at the age of 90
British motoring legend Sir Stirling Moss passed away tonight following a long illness. The Englishman, who turned 90 last September 17, is widely considered to be one of the greatest drivers of all time, even though in his career he never managed to win the title of Formula 1 world champion.
Moss had been fighting a bad disease for years, which first forced him to no longer get into a car and then to retire to private life, precisely from January last year (he contracted a bad infection during a holiday in Singapore in 2016).
His palmares includes 66 victories in F1 (212 in total), four second places in the world championship, a victory at the legendary "Mille Miglia" and several personal records, including that of being the first Briton to climb to the top step of the podium at Aintree, in 1955.
The Motorionline editorial team sympathizes with the family's pain.
