The Brazilian says he will not be replaced by Bottas

Senna: “No ultimatum from Williams”

Bruno Senna has denied rumors of possible disagreements with Williams over the results of his teammate Pastor Maldonado.

While Maldonado rose to a surprise win in Spain, the Brazilian failed to shine similarly in 2012, taking home just 15 points compared to the Venezuelan's 29. There has been talk in many quarters of a possible cut in favor of the young test driver, the Finn Valtteri Bottas. “I know I don't need to win this year”, Senna told the periodical Globo Esporte. “I just need to have the consistency to score points regularly, and the races will come soon that have great potential for us".

Senna doesn't feel the weight of the results and is calm about next season too: “To win in Formula One, everything has to be right: the car has to be fast, you have to be in the right position using the tires in the right way and the strategy has to be right. All these variables are difficult to put together, and everyone on the team knows it”, insisted the grandson of the great Ayrton. “They are giving me a chance to learn this year, so that next year you can expect me to be able to win a race.”
According to the Brazilian newspaper, Senna criticized the fact that every single test session is important to understand how the tires work and that the fact that Bottas drives in Friday's FP1 penalizes him. “Pastor was able to learn a lot about the condition of his tires. This all comes with experience and is not something you can skip even in a practice session. We are very fast, but we still need to understand the ideal operating window for the tires. In my opinion, the fastest car is Lotus, but even they have not always been able to exploit their potential.", concluded the Williams standard-bearer, who last year raced with the Enstone team, then known as Renault.
