Sebastien Buemi: “I'm shocked at the loss of my job at Toro Rosso”

Sebastien Buemi he was “shocked” when he learned that he would not be a pilot for the Toro Rosso in the next season.

The Swiss has driven for the team since the start of 2009, and learned the news of losing his seat earlier this week when Toro Rosso announced Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne for 2012. The newspaper “Le Matin” reports that the Swiss was unable to answer the phone call from Franz Tost and Helmut Marko before the announcement because he was driving in the Red Bull simulator and was visiting Toro Rosso's English wind tunnel.

"I was shocked. I was told that the decision would be made before the end of the year, but I was under the impression that my contract would be renewed. I didn't expect at all not to be the driver for next season."

“I still have to accept the decision even if it is difficult to understand.”

Buemi will have to look for someone new seat, but with the main roles already mostly filled he could opt for a reserve pilot role.

“Maybe there are options, but it's still early to talk,” he added. “Fortunately in the past years I have built many contacts with many teams. I hope this helps me."
