Sebastian Vettel: “I'm not frustrated, the season is still long”

He failed to cause concern Nico Rosberg and its Mercedes but he still took home the best possible position Sebastian Vettel, calculating that he will then have to serve a 5-place penalty on the starting grid for replacing the gearbox.
On Friday also the pilot of the Ferrari he had had to abandon the field after only thirty minutes from the start Free 2, hampered by an electronics problem. Having saved what could be saved, the four-time world champion is thus preparing for an uphill start, from seventh position, alongside, ironically, Red Bull di Kvyat, with whom the German had collided on the back podium of the previous race. Let's hope that this time there are no other omelettes at the start...

“Of course I would have preferred the gap to be a little smaller but we believe that in Q2, in particular Nico, he was really very strong and we saw it, he really did a great job,” he admitted Hag at the end of Qualifying. “For our part we did our best, obviously benefiting from what happened to Lewis, even if I don't know exactly what it was, but it helped us get to second place, which will allow us to be a little closer tomorrow despite the penalty. We will start from the clean side of the track and we think we can have a good race from that position. It will be an exciting race, the car feels good, it was quite strong all weekend. We lost some time yesterday, but this morning we made it up so there won't be a problem,” continued the Rossa driver.

“I'm not frustrated – he was keen to clarify Hag, despite an uphill start to the season - although obviously it's a shame when these things happen because they don't make the race and your life easier, but it's part of racing, these are things that happen, clearly not on purpose but we're pushing hard thoroughly to try to make up ground. Especially in terms of race pace, we have already demonstrated this year that we have done so. We haven't had a completely clean race yet, then maybe we will have one tomorrow who knows, it will be a long race and above all a lot of things can happen here so we have to wait and see. It's still April, May starts tomorrow, the championship has just started and at the moment it's important to do our best to get maximum points every time; then we'll see how it goes."

And speaking of the future, the pilot of Maranello he fully embraced the boss' philosophy Maurice Arrivabene, 'head down and feet firmly on the ground': “We need to start improving as soon as possible, we have brought new parts here, we have a new engine, so I think we are on the right path but we still see that the others, in particular the Mercedes, they are doing a great job. Both Lewis and Nico are working very well, it's not the first year they've done it, so it's tough but still we want to be the best and if you want to be the best you have to be ready to face the best. At the moment we are behind but in the future I have faith that we will become the best, so let's keep our feet on the ground. Clearly we would like to be first today and not tomorrow but this is the nature of this sport; we are wise and we must spend our energy looking after ourselves and trying to improve, time is in our favor", concluded the driver in red.
