Sebastian Vettel elected "Driver of the Day" of the Singapore GP
The German was rewarded for the comeback made yesterday in the race
Sebastian Vettel was elected Driver of The Day of the Singapore Grand Prix. The German, eliminated on Saturday in the first qualifying heat due to a broken anti-roll bar, started the night race at Marina Bay from last position and recovered to fifth place.
"I had a lot of fun in the race – said Vettel – At one point I was hoping to be able to enter the battle for third place. We were hoping for another Safety Car to come in, which didn't happen, but we still achieved an excellent result. I thank those who voted for me as driver of the day. We must concentrate our efforts on the various areas of the single-seater, the Mercedes are very strong and in the last three years they have prevailed in almost every race. But we will not give up and will continue to fight.".
In the ranking of driver of the day, Vettel – making his first success of the season – succeeds Romain Grosjean (Melbourne, Sakhir), Daniil Kvyat (Shanghai), Kevin Magnussen (Sochi), Max Verstappen (Montmelò, Montreal, Spielberg, Silverstone), Sergio Perez (Monaco, Baku) , Kimi Raikkonen (Budapest), Daniel Ricciardo (Hockenheim), Lewis Hamilton (Spa) and Nico Rosberg (Monza).
