It would have been a foreign substance used for maintenance procedures that stopped Nico Rosberg in the night of Marina Bay.
According to the analyzes conducted at the base Mercedes of Brackley this component, in use since 2008, would have penetrated the electronic parts of the steering column causing an intermittent short circuit in the minutes just before the start of the race.
The resulting blockage of the engine and clutch settings would have forced the German to retire after a handful of laps.
