Schumacher: “I think it will be an exciting race”

Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher achieved a good fifth place in qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix and expects an exciting race tomorrow.

Michael Schumacher – 5th: “First of all, I'm happy to hear that Sergio is well, which is obviously the most important news. The accident reminded me of what happened to Karl Wendlinger in 1994 and demonstrates the quality of the FIA's safety improvements that have been in place for some time, but especially on side impact tests. Regarding my starting position, I benefited a bit from the circumstances and, probably, P7 on the starting grid would have been more realistic. That said, our car looks better in race trim this weekend, so with another good start, I'll be looking to get the most out of it. Overtaking is known to be more difficult here than on other circuits, so choosing the right strategy will be fundamental, especially since the tires have to last longer and fewer stops can be expected. I think it will be an exciting race."
