Schumacher: “It makes no sense to compare me and Sebastian”

Michael Schumacher says he cannot compare his Formula 1 successes with those of Sebastian Vettel after the young German secured his third consecutive title in 2012.

Vettel became the youngest three-time world champion in the history of Formula 1, even compared to Schumacher and Juan Manuel Fangio, the only other drivers to win three titles in a row.

Seven-time champion Schumacher, who retired from F1 at the end of the season, believes Vettel has achieved something very special, but believes trying to draw comparisons between him and his compatriot makes no sense.

Schumacher and Vettel won the Race of Champions' Nations' Cup last Saturday.

“You have to be special to do it, it's very simple,” Schumacher said of Vettel's third consecutive title.

“I don't think it's necessary to make a comparison. She's winning in her moment and I've done it before.”
