Sauber: In the Australian top ten with Kobayashi

A good qualifying in Australia for Sauber, which enters the top ten with Kamui Kobayashi, ninth on the grid. Thirteenth position for the other driver, in his first qualification, Sergio Perez.

Kamui Kobayashi – Pos 9:
“The overall results are not bad and now let's see what we did over the winter that was good. Of course there are still things to improve, but this is only the first Grand Prix and getting into Q3 is a good result. I want to thank the team. I just wish I had used a set of new tires just for Q3, instead of using the soft set, I think P6 would have been possible. However, I think today was positive and I am very happy to dedicate this result to Japan. ”

Sergio Perez – Pos 13:
“My first qualifying session started quite well with P6 in Q1, and this was mainly because in the third free practice session I couldn't run on the soft tires and with little fuel, because we lost a lot of time due to a plumbing problem. In Q2 we had little time after the yellow flag, and then on my last fast lap I had traffic in the last sector and wasn't able to get the most out of the tyres. Today a better result would have been possible, and that's a shame. But overall I feel very good and I have hope for a good race tomorrow with some points at the end.”
