Sauber without main sponsor in Bahrain

Sauber will appear in Bahrain for the start of the season without a main sponsor.

Rumors have circulated in recent days of a possible deal with a big name being revealed in Bahrain, but team boss Peter Sauber confirmed that the Swiss team's livery will remain predominantly white during the race in Sakhir.

“Between the exit of BMW and the purchase of the team we didn't have time to look for a partner or a main sponsor,” the 20-year-old told Swiss publication XNUMX Minuten.

“We only received official confirmation of registration in December, so concrete negotiations (with partners) started too late."

“In any case, the 2010 season is guaranteed for us, although the more sponsors we have the more we can develop the car.”

Sauber said drivers Pedro de la Rosa and Kamui Kobayashi did not bring any type of sponsorship for the team.

“Neither of them brought any money. I hired them for what they achieved in their careers,” said the Swiss.

But when asked if he thinks Sauber will be able to penetrate the Japanese and Spanish markets, he replied: “I hope so. The Japanese and Spanish markets are very rich, even if they have suffered the impacts of the global crisis.”
