Sauber, difficult qualifying for Ericsson and Nasr in Montreal

A disappointing qualifying for Sauber at the Canadian F1 GP. Marcus Ericsson achieved the 19th fastest time in qualifying while Felipe Nasr did not go beyond the 20th fastest time. Ericsson will also suffer a three-place grid penalty for causing the accident at the Monaco GP.

“It was a difficult qualifying. My first run went well,” said Ericsson. “For the second run we came out a little later than the other teams. When I was on the track, the rain fell harder towards the end of the lap so the track was increasingly slippery. It wasn't an easy session. For tomorrow, I think the unstable weather conditions could mix things up in the race. Since we're starting from the back of the grid, this could give us some chances."

“It was a complicated qualifying” added Nasr. “In general I struggled a lot with grip, even compared to Free Practice 3 this morning. I never managed to put it all together in qualifying. I think I left a little later than the others. In the end I wasn't able to improve on the second run with new tires due to the light rain. For the race, I think the weather will play a big role. We need to stay positive for tomorrow and see what opportunities arise for us."
