Sauber, Perez: “I'm happy with Q3 and we can be more competitive in the race”

The Mexican Sauber driver closes the top ten in Sepang qualifying. Problems for Kobayashi only 17th on the grid.

Sergio Perez – 10th: “I'm very happy that we are in Q3. Considering all the balance issues we had yesterday that we couldn't fully explain, it was a great success today for the team. I think our car is better in race conditions than in qualifying, so we should have good potential for tomorrow's race. For some reason it is difficult to find good grip with the medium compound tyres, but the changes we made after free practice helped a little. It will be a tough race tomorrow for the car, the tires and the drivers. I will try to bring home as many points as possible."

Kamui Kobayashi – 17: “There were no particular problems regarding my last lap in Q2, such as traffic or errors, but I couldn't feel the grip with the medium compound. We struggled a lot with the balance of the car yesterday, but in the third free practice this morning it went better. The changes we then made for qualification apparently went in the wrong direction. Looking ahead to the race, I can say that the circuit itself is not bad for overtaking, but I'm not sure we will have enough speed on the straights. “
